With another clean, crisp display, Sarah Lavin swept to her ninth Irish senior title in the 100m hurdles in Santry on Saturday, producing the standout performance on the first day of the 123.ie National Championships.

The tailwind of 1.4m/s was just about perfect, the soaked track and steady rain not so much, yet Lavin once again showed her consistent class by powering to her 16th national title overall in a blazing 12.79, smashing Derval O’Rourke’s championship record of 12.95.
