GAA elite have nutritionists, doctors, physio, S&C and psychologists. Who is responsible for sleep?
Needing a rest. GAA players need their sleep.
There wasn’t supposed to be a soundtrack. Brian Hogan typically tuned out for every moment until the throw-in. His Kilkenny team didn’t need a theme song to strike a ferocious tone. Wonderwall had no place in their realm.
It certainly didn’t belong blaring through his window at 4am the day before an All-Ireland final. Picture it. A man who relied on sleep to quell the anxiety and allure of Liam MacCarthy, kept awake by neighbours perched on a back wall. “Today is gonna be the day that they’re gonna throw it back to you.”
