Martin Coppinger secured his place in the Dan O’Riordan Cup semi-final when he beat Aidan Murphy by almost a bowl at Bantry.

There was little between them in the early exchanges. Murphy played a big fourth shot to McSweeney’s and Coppinger beat it. They both got brilliant fifth bowls to Harrington’s, where Coppinger had 20m odds. They were just short of Casey’s corner in six and they made Cronin’s cross in the next exchange, with Coppinger 15m fore.
