NEW WORLD RECORD: Sweden's Mondo Duplantis has broken the world pole vault record with a new high of 6.24m* to get the 2024 Wanda Diamond League season off to a flying start at Xiamen.

Sweden's Mondo Duplantis has broken the world pole vault record with a new high of 6.24m* to get the 2024 Wanda Diamond League season off to a flying start at Xiamen.

The 24-year-old Olympic and World Champion sailed over the bar on his first attempt to add 1cm to the world record which he set during the 2023 Diamond League in Eugene last September. Swenden's Duplantis retained his world indoor title in Glasgow with a 6.10m clearance last month.
