Maigh Cuilinn relegated after 66-64 loss to Templeogue

Maigh Cuilinn are the first team to be relegated after a two-point loss to Templeogue in the Arena. In a low-scoring game it was the 28 points from Vernon Jackson that separated the sides. Jackson also game up with the game-winning layup after an offensive rebound in the closing seconds. It’s a shame to see the Galway side go down as they have been a big part of the Super League since 2009 (aside from a one year absence in 2014/15). Not having a second American for the majority of the season limited them as they averaged just 71 points a game, the lowest in the league by a considerable margin. They have young Irish talent and a strong club in the background so we won’t have to wait long for their return to the top flight.
