Nicola Tuthill claimed a silver medal at the European Throwing Cup in Leiria, Portugal this afternoon. The 20-year-old Bandon athlete launched a best of 67.39m in the U-23 hammer throw, just down on the personal best of 67.85m from last summer.

The first-round effort by Tuthill, who also won silver at the event last year, placed her second behind Sweden's Thea Lofman (68.08m).
