Medal would be crowning glory but Ireland after World Indoors depth
Athletics Ireland director of high performance Paul McNamaraÂ
The Irish team for the World Indoor Championships may be low on quantity, but there’s an undoubted sprinkle of quality. The three-day event gets underway in Glasgow tomorrow and in the absence of stars like Rhasidat Adeleke and Ciara Mageean, it will likely fall to two Sarahs – Lavin and Healy – to make an impact.
What would constitute a successful weekend? “You’re looking at three top-sixes and everyone qualifying through the rounds,” says Paul McNamara, Athletics Ireland’s High Performance Director. “A medal would be a crowning glory. But the theme at most championships in recent years has been the depth of performance.”Â
