Double world champion Daniel Wiffen still ‘not the done deal’

Eight days of swimming had barely finished at the Aspire Dome in Doha last weekend when the Ireland team boarded a 1am flight home. The World Aquatic Championships were done but there isn’t a minute to lose with Paris just around the corner.

The Worlds would be the full stop on a season in normal times, but these aren’t normal times. Not with the logjam of competitions still being filtered through the calendars after all those covid delays. Hence a World Champs in February. And in an Olympic year.
