John Travers decided only last Thursday that he was going to toe the line in the men’s 3,000m. Given he ended up a convincing winner, it was an 11th-hour decision he is glad he took.

Prior to arriving in Abbotstown on Sunday morning, the experienced Donore Harriers man had spent the last three weeks in Boston. Of the three races he competed in stateside, he failed to finish two of them.
