World 800m Champion Daniel Wiffen is into another final at the World Aquatics Championships after winning his heat in the 1500m Freestyle while Mona McSharry secured her place in the 50m Breaststroke semi-final.

Wiffen won his heat in a time of 14:54.29 and is sixth overall going into the final tomorrow (4.16pm).

The 23-year-old was happy with his performance "I tried to take it as easy as possible and just pace it to get back and I'm in sixth position going in, I was missed it by .8 there.

"I'm pretty happy with that, I did what I wanted to do and it was just a bit of fun for me and I was practicing my turns.

"I knew exactly my pace I feel like I'm getting quite good at hitting a certain pace and training and stuff like that and then my warm up I knew what was gonna make it.

"To be honest it's faster than I actually thought was gonna make it back but I mean yeah just happy to be on the right side of it."

Looking ahead to the final tomorrow Wiffen said he is going to keep doing what he has been and will hopefully get a second podium finish at the Championships.

"I'm just gonna go in with the same attitude try and pace it how I wanna pace it and just post a good time and hopefully get on the podium."

Mona McSharry is into the 50m Breaststroke semi-final after her fifth-place finish in the 200m Breastroke Final on Friday evening.

McSharry finished second in her heats in a time of 30.72 and is ranked seventh for her semi-final this afternoon.

Speaking after the race the Sligo swimmer spoke about her quick turnaround after Friday's final "I think it’s all about preparation in the warm-up and making sure you’re moving on from last night and just moving forward and focusing on the future.

"I think I did a good job, so hopefully I can go faster tonight."

McSharry will be back in the water for her semi-final at 4.25pm.

Erin Riordan finished out her Championships with her first individual race at World level in the 50m Freestyle clocking a time of 26.26.
