Denis Wilmot delivers commanding performance in cup

Denis Wilmot gave a commanding performance on his way to capturing the Bill Barrett Cup at Caheragh. He had Denis O’Driscoll on the back foot from the start.

He gained an early stranglehold on the contest after a huge second throw put him almost a bowl clear. He followed with two more good shots to take his lead well over a bowl. O’Driscoll’s challenge took a blow when his bowl over the bridge was accidently blocked. Wilmot didn’t exploit that fully, only beating the tip by 20m to keep the lead just over a bowl.
