For Rhasidat Adeleke, the standards have risen, and so too has the expectation. That comes first and foremost from herself, but also from her coach, Edrick Floreal, who has steered her career at the University of Texas for the past three years.

Despite setting an Irish 300m record of 36.42 at the Millrose Games in New York on Sunday, the Dubliner walked off the track a frustrated figure. Her coach, too, was unimpressed.
