Most people find work gets in the way of their sporting passions. For Kelly Murphy it was her daily commute to the job that put her on the path to what she is hoping will be a place at this summer’s Olympics in Paris.

It started with a six-mile journey every morning that was taking 90 minutes by train. That’s where the bike came in. What at first was a means to an end soon became the focal point of her everyday life for the bones of a decade, but it was no mapped route.
