Aidan Walsh handed chance to back up 2020 Olympic bronze at Italian qualifier

Aidan Walsh, a bronze medallist at the Tokyo Games in 2021, has been given the nod in the men’s light middleweight class despite having been out of action for almost 12 months and losing his National Elite bout to Dean Walsh this month last year.

Ireland’s strength in depth in the amateur ring has been highlighted yet again with the announcement of the team named to contest the first Paris 2024 Olympic qualifier, in Busto Arsizio in Italy, next month.

Not just in the names included, but in some of those omitted.
