The Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA) have announced a new streaming partnership with SteamSport.ie to show every national championship bout, starting on Friday night with the National U18 Championships.
Limerick-based StreamSport.ie, who have worked with Munster Rugby and several GAA boards, will operate in conjunction with JW Player.
It is a pay-per-view service priced at €8 per day of boxing. To aid performance analysis for boxers, coaches and clubs, the footage will be transferred to IABA’s YouTube channel three days after the conclusion of the card.
“This is a significant development for IABA and for boxers, clubs, coaches and their families throughout the association,” said IABA Interim CEO John Nangle.
“It ensures that our sport, Ireland’s most successful Olympic sport, has high visibility outside the National Stadium. The Home of Irish Boxing will always be the best place to watch the incredible talent of IABA’s boxers, but we recognize that family, friends and clubmates at home and abroad want to support their boxer.
“Our exciting partnership with StreamSport.ie and JW Player allows them to do that. From a commercial perspective, this is an important step for IABA and heralds the first in a series of governance, communication and visibility landmarks in 2024.”
The first tournament of the year gets underway at the National Stadium on Friday night and will conclude on Saturday, January 20. 149 boxers will compete with 28 titles on the line.
