A Motorsport Ireland delegation will today (Friday) complete its inspection of the three locations that are bidding to host a proposed round of the WRC, possibly sometime between late August and early September in 2025. The group, accompanied by representatives of the WRC promoter, visited Tralee and Limerick yesterday and are due in Waterford city this morning. While there is optimism in all three areas, Motorsport Ireland president Aiden Harper has again reiterated that hosting a round of the WRC is reliant on government funding, he also dismissed claims (on social media) that some government monies were already guaranteed.

“There’s no monies as yet, it’s (application) going through the process. We’ve had a couple of meetings, there are so many levels that this has to go through and we are awaiting the next meeting with representatives of the government.”
