Christy Mullins claimed the Munster Vintage (over-60) title by just 1.5m in a dramatic last shot showdown with David Walsh at Fisher’s Cross, Jack Cahalane had retired from the final before the closing stages.

It became a duel between Mullins and Walsh from the off. Cahalane would have needed a perfect start to stay with the top two players, but conceded an early bowl of odds. At the first bend Mullins led Walsh by a valuable six metres. Mullins increased his lead to 15m with his second shot. Both frontrunners opened Footman’s cross in three, with Cahalane drifting further off the pace.
