As Motorsport Ireland launched its Strategic Plan that will steer it through to the end of 2027, president Aiden Harper called for unity within its affiliated clubs. In his closing address to delegates at Saturday’s congress in Athlone that was attended by delegates from all but one of its 32 affiliated clubs, he said, “We can achieve what we want to achieve. What I would ask for is that we buy into it (strategic plan), stop the bickering. We stop the WhatsApp groups, we stop all those things that’s going on that I’m aware of. I know, I see these things. But we can be great together by stopping all that and coming out and talking.”

Earlier in the day Harper informed the gathering of the continued momentum to host a round of the WRC in 2025. “It's (the plan) with government and with our own second phase discussions in the coming week, the third phase will involve discussions with the FIA and the WRC promoter.”
