Spike O'Sullivan: Hungry Canelo still thriving in the fast lane but Lidl’s middle aisle suits me fine

It’s amazing where life takes you. At least twice…who are we kidding, three or four times…a week life takes me down to my local Lidl here in Togher. I’m on a first-name basis with half of the staff in there and once they see me, they know exactly where I’m heading for — the middle aisles. I absolutely love the madness and randomness of that section and get my steps in for the week going up and down it. The worst thing life can be is boring and life is never boring in the middle aisle of Lidl.

My back shed here is filled with some of my finest purchases from there, a lot of them still in their boxes as it happens. I’ve a chainsaw out there, a spray-painting gun, a few other bits. I go out and admire them in my slick Polo tracksuit that I got in the middle aisle too. I almost added another to the collection this week.
