Ireland secure three medals on successful day at European Boxing Championships

Double European gold medallist Joe Ward powered his way to his third Euro medal.

Update 6pm: Joe Ward has powered his way to a third European medal, adding to earlier successes by Brendan Irvine and Kurt Walker, writes Stephen Barry.

Ward, a European champion in 2011 and 2015, eased past Scotland’s Sean Lazzerini to guarantee himself at least a bronze medal.
