Disappointment for Fionnuala McCormack at European Cross Country Championships

For the second time in six months, Fionnuala McCormack has found herself relegated out of the medals at a major European Cross Country Championships by recently-transferred Kenyan athletes representing Turkey, writes Will Downing.

European 5000m and 10000m double-winner from this summer’s Championships in Amsterdam, Yasemin Can, pounced again to take the European Cross-Country title ahead of team-mate and another Kenyan-born transfer, Meryem Akda.
