Irish Olympian’s mother had to buy Rio tickets from Norwegian site

A mother of one of Ireland's Olympians has expressed disappointment in light of allegations that members of the Olympic Council of Ireland are linked with ticket touting.

Grainne Adams, mother of sailor Finn Lynch, was unable to obtain tickets from PRO 10 - the OCI's official ticket retailer.

She says that attending the opening ceremony was key for her but, despite multiple attempts to contact PRO 10, she was unable to buy tickets for it from them.

Her words come in the wake of news that Brazilian police are to question members of the OCI regarding the touting allegations.

Adams eventually purchased the tickets from a source in Norway.

“I had my heart set on seeing Finn walk in with the Irish team, under the Irish flag,” she told Newstalk Breakfast this morning.

“It was disappointing to hear the tickets were part of that.”
