Michael O'Reilly 'to appeal drugs test result'
It has been reported that suspended Irish boxer Michael O'Reilly will appeal a drugs test result after he tested positive for a banned substance.
The Portlaoise fighter was due to compete at the Olympics in Rio this month - with his first fight down for next week, but that is now in doubt following Thursday's ruling.
It is understood that O'Reilly has decided against having his B sample tested and is instead going to ask for an appeal hearing.
Former Olympic boxer Mick Dowling has said that athletes who qualified for the games should know what they can and can't take.
"We've said on many, many occasions, that all of the athletes, including the boxer, would know, they should know, and they would know exactly what they're allowed take, what is OK and what is not ok, and if they're in doubt, they are well able to go and check: 'Is is OK if I take this?'."
