What a sweetheart! Tennis star Jo-Wilfried Tsonga comes to the aid of injured ball girl

When a ball girl was hurt at the Australian Open yesterday, none other than French tennis star Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was the first person to come to her aid.

The young girl started crying after being hit in the face by a tennis ball and Tsonga noticed her distress.

The kind-hearted player immediately stopped play to go and comfort her.

Clip from Australian Open TV.

He called for assistance and then took the balls she was holding from her and walked her off the court.

What a sweetheart.

The crowd gave Tsonga a round of applause for his chivalrous behaviour, but afterwards he played down the incident.

"I saw she was in trouble," Tsonga told abc.

"It was normal to help her out of the stadium. I hope she's OK.

"To be honest I didn't do anything special."
