Billy Walsh’s future in Irish boxing to be discussed this evening

The Irish Amateur Boxing Association are meeting this evening to discuss the future of Billy Walsh as head coach of their High Performance Unit.

Walsh is being strongly linked with a move to US boxing after talks about a new contract reached an impasse last week.

The Association has denied that Walsh has tendered his resignation and say that the coach is currently on annual leave and that his future is an issue of the utmost urgency for the IABA and is being dealt with accordingly.

Walsh has been listed as the Irish team's coach for a tournament in Poland next week.
