Ennis-Hill to continue comeback at the weekend

Jessica Ennis-Hill will compete in both the long jump and javelin at the Loughborough International Athletics meeting in England next weekend, organisers have announced.

The 2012 Olympic heptathlon champion returned to competitive action in Manchester on Saturday after two years away due to injury and the birth of her first child last year, finishing third in the 100m hurdles.

“I am really looking forward to competing in the Loughborough International - it is always a good meet for me at the start of the season,” Ennis-Hill said.

“I was happy with my run over the hurdles last Saturday in Manchester and the chance to compete in the long jump and javelin a week later will give us a really clear picture of how things are shaping up.

“It is very good to be back competing again and I hope lots of local people will come and support us all next Sunday.”

Sunday will be her first appearance at the early-season Loughborough meet since 2011, although she took part in the Loughborough European Athletics Permit in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
