Andy Lee set for title defence in Ireland in March

Reports today suggest Andy Lee is set to defend his world title in March - on either Saturday 14 or 21.

The Limerick man won the WBO middleweight title in Las Vegas last month and had spoken of his desire to defend it in Ireland.

He was keen to have a fight in Thomond Park, where he appeared with his belt on December 26 after Munster played Leinster.

But The Daily Star report the March fight will be in the 3 Arena in Dublin against another southpaw, Danish boxer Patrick Nielsen.

Should Lee win that match, then a summer fight in Thomond against British boxer Billy Joe Saunders is likely.

30-year-old Lee may reveal more tonight when he appears on RTÉ’s Late Late Show.
