Froome wins Tour of Oman
Team Sky’s Chris Froome wrapped up victory at the Tour of Oman ahead of Alberto Contador today.
The Great Britain Olympian, second in last summer’s Tour de France, held a 27-second lead going into today’s final stage and finished in the leading bunch in a sprint finish to make sure of the red jersey.
Froome had sprung to the head of the field with victory on stage five yesterday, following consistent displays throughout the week up to that point.
Francais Des Jeux rider Nacer Bouhanni won today’s 144-kilometre stage from Hawit Nagam Park to Matrah Corniche, with Orica GreenEDGE’s Matthew Goss second and American Taylor Phinney third for BMC Racing.
