Taoiseach: Paralympic athletes 'inspired a generation'

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said today that the Irish Paralympic team has "inspired a generation".

The Government held a reception for the athletes today, including the winners of the 16 medals at the London games.

The Taoiseach said that the Government will try to protect funding to the team for Brazil 2016.

"It'd be a wonderful thing to be able to say that we've got a full safe here for looking after funding for Paralympians, and what happened in the past is something we can't visit now, but I'd like to think that we can do the very best we can for our Paralympians," he said.
