Defending champions Spain took complete control of their Davis Cup quarter-final against Austria as they moved into a 2-0 lead after the opening day in Castellon.

Nicolas Almagro and David Ferrer both claimed convincing straight-sets wins to leave the hosts, who are playing without Rafael Nadal, on the brink of the last four.
