Top seed Rafael Nadal crashed out of the Shanghai Masters today after being outplayed by Germany’s Florian Mayer.

Mayer, the world number 23, produced a sensational display to stun the Spaniard 7-6 (7/5) 6-3 and advance into the quarter-finals.
