Spain wins UCI decision

The International Cycling Union (UCI) has confirmed that Ponferrada, Spain, will host the 2014 Road World Championships.

The decision comes after what the UCI describe as a “rigorous assessment” of all the candidates.

In its decision, the UCI also announced that Ponferrada is being considered to host the 2015 Para-cycling Road World Championships.

Oman and Richmond, Virginia, have already made their bids to host the 2015 championships, with the UCI only accepting bids from outside of Europe.
