Rafael Nadal believes Roger Federer’s record of successive grand slam semi-final appearances is a benchmark that will never be beaten.

The Swiss maestro racked up a remarkable 23 consecutive appearances in the last four of majors dating back to the 2004 French Open before he fell to Robin Soderling in the quarter-finals at Roland Garros at the start of this month.
