Injury rules Henin out of Fed Cup singles tie

Justine Henin will not play singles in Belgium’s Fed Cup tie against Estonia this weekend after breaking the little finger on her left hand in training.

The 27-year-old is, however, still expected to play in the doubles rubber, with Yanina Wickmayer taking Henin’s place alongside Kim Clijsters for the singles rubbers.

Belgium captain Sabine Appelmans explained on www.fedcup.com: “She was at the net and the ball came over. She didn’t know whether to volley it. Instead, she took it with her hand and broke her finger.”
