Costin finishes 44th in 50km walk in Beijing

Waterford athlete Jamie Costin has pulled off a remarkable never-say-die achievement in Beijing.

Waterford athlete Jamie Costin has finished 44th in the 50km walk in Beijing today.

The Waterford man, who was almost paralysed in a car accident during the last Olympics four years ago, finished in a time of 4h 15:16mins.

While disappointed with his overall placing, said he was delighted just to have been able to compete.

Ireland's other competitor, Colin Griffin, was disqualified.
