Williams powers past Yuan

Defending champion Serena Williams comfortably dispatched Yuan Meng of China 6-3 6-1 to move into the third round of the Australian Open on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old Yuan, who negotiated three qualifying rounds to reach the main draw, battled gamely and managed to break the seventh seed twice during the first set of their second-round encounter.
