Jamie Murray suffered an early exit from the Madrid Masters after losing his second-round match in straights sets today.

Murray and partner Mark Knowles, who were the eighth seeds and enjoyed a bye in the opening round, lost 6-4 7-6 (7-2) to Polish duo Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski.

Murray’s disappointing early defeat in Madrid is in stark contrast to his brother Andy, who as been hugely impressive in progressing through to a third-round showdown with second seed Rafael Nadal in the singles later tonight.
