The Irish yacht Chieftain appears to have won the 2007 Fastnet race.

The Irish yacht Chieftain appears to have won the 2007 Fastnet race.

The vessel crossed the finish line in Plymouth just before 7pm last night, but overall results won't be finalised until all yachts have completed the event.

The 608-mile race starts in Cowes before travelling around Fastnet Rock off the south-west coast of Ireland and back again to Plymouth.
