Federer through to semi-finals in Montreal

Wimbledon champion Roger Federer has cruised through to the semi finals of the Montreal Masters with a straight sets victory over Leyton Hewitt.

Federer has won eleven Grand Slam men's singles titles in 33 appearances. This year at Wimbledon, he reached his ninth consecutive Grand Slam singles final an all-time record in men's tennis.

He will now meet unseeded Czech Radek Stepanek, who upset fourth seed Nikolay Davydenko 6-4 7-5.

Third seed Novak Djokovic beat Andy Roddick to go through to a last four showdown against Rafael Nadalor.
