Davydenko to face Fed in semis
Nikolay Davydenko sealed the semi-final showdown with Federer by sweeping past Guillermo Canas in straight sets on Suzanne Lenglen court today.
The fourth seed was a 7-5 6-4 6-4 winner over the Argentinian in three hours, clinching the victory with one of his many forehand winners down the line.
It will be the Russian’s second Roland Garros semi-final in three years, but he has not beaten Federer in eight attempts overall.
The other two quarter-finals are played on Wednesday, with reigning champion Rafael Nadal taking on fellow Mallorcan Carlos Moya and Novak Djokovic – the sixth seed – meeting unseeded Russian Igor Andreev.
