Safin eases into second round of French Open
Marat Safin was an early winner on the opening day at the French Open before constant drizzle caused play to be temporarily abandoned at Roland Garros.
Safin, the 22nd seed from Russia, is one of the darlings of the Parisian crowd and looked in fine shape as he wrapped up a 6-1 6-3 6-1 victory over Spain’s Fernando Vicente in just one hour and 25 minutes.
