Federer triumphant at Flushing Meadows

Roger Federer held off an inspired Andy Roddick to claim his third successive US Open title at Flushing Meadows tonight.

The world’s top player, Federer absorbed the best the resurgent Roddick had to offer before dispatching the ninth-seeded American 6-2 4-6 7-5 6-1 to win his ninth grand slam.
