Mackin faces Federer test
Great Britain captain Jeremy Bates has taken a major Davis Cup gamble by resting Greg Rusedski from tomorrow’s opening day of the World Group play-off against Switzerland in Geneva.
Bates has decided he is better off keeping his number one fresh for the potentially crucial Saturday doubles and effectively conceding the opening singles encounter by throwing Alan Mackin in against world number one Roger Federer.
