Lindsay Davenport moved into the quarter-finals of the US Open with a comprehensive defeat of Nathalie Dechy.

The second seed from the United States routed the 15th-seeded Frenchwoman 6-0 6-3 in just 57 minutes to cruise into the last eight.

Davenport, who has now won all eight of her meetings with Dechy, broke her in the opening game of the match and cruised through the first set, winning it in only 19 minutes.

The American blew three break points in the first game of the second set to allow Dechy to get on the scoreboard, but she broke her in the third game and again in the fifth.

The 29-year-old Davenport did not face a break point until she was broken serving for the match at 5-2, but she immediately broke back to end the contest.

Davenport will face either sixth-seeded Russian Elena Dementieva, runner-up last year, or 11th seed Patty Schnyder of Switzerland in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
