Injury-plagued Clijsters to retire by 2007

Former world number one Kim Clijsters intends to retire from professional tennis by the end of 2007.

The 22-year-old has suffered a series of injuries since 2003 – when she became the first woman since 1974 to play more than 100 singles matches in a season.
