Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova bowed out of the French Open after being knocked out of the quarter-finals by Justine Henin-Hardenne 6-4 6-2.

The 2003 winner at Roland Garros, Henin-Hardenne missed most of last season with glandular fever but she has returned to good health and now finds herself with a 22-match winning streak.
