Safin ends Federer run to book final place

Marat Safin finally ended Roger Federer's 26-match unbeaten run with a stunning five-set victory in the semi-finals of the Australian Open today.

Defending champion Federer saved six match points before Safin finally secured a 5-7 6-4 5-7 7-6 9-7 win after almost four and a half hours.
