Disgraced Greek sprinter Kostas Kenteris was questioned today by a prosecutor investigating a missed doping test and motorbike accident that resulted in the runner’s withdrawal from the Olympics.
Kenteris, the former 200 metre Olympic champion, was called in by prosecutor Spyros Mouzakitis to answer questions about the alleged crash.
Kenteris and Katerina Thanou, who took silver in the 100 metres in Sydney, crashed and were admitted to hospital a few hours after they could not be found at the Olympic Village for a doping test. Thanou also withdrew from the games.
The questioning was part of an expanded investigation into the accident and Mouzakitis is also expected to question others involved in the case.
