Burnett joint ninth in Athens

Ireland's Derek Burnett lies joint ninth in the men's trap shooting at the Athens Olympics. He successfully shot 23 of his 25 targets in the third round, and now has a running total of 72 out of 75.

Meanwhile, Ciaran Power and Mark Scanlon are currently in the main bunch in the men's cycling road race. In that race, world cycling champion Igor Astarloa crashed in the opening lap. The Spaniard, who won the world championships in Canada last year, tumbled after less than 10 minutes in the saddle and abandoned the race.

In today's sailing, David Burrows competes in the Finn class, Gerald Owens and Ross Killian in the 470.

Ireland's sole competing boxer, Andy Lee, has his first middleweight bout at 5.30pm Irish time. He is up against Mexican Alfredo Angulo Lopez.
