Meanwhile, Ciaran Power and Mark Scanlon are currently in the main bunch in the men's cycling road race. In that race, world cycling champion Igor Astarloa crashed in the opening lap. The Spaniard, who won the world championships in Canada last year, tumbled after less than 10 minutes in the saddle and abandoned the race.

In today's sailing, David Burrows competes in the Finn class, Gerald Owens and Ross Killian in the 470.
