Top seed Roger Federer of Switzerland has moved into the second round of Wimbledon after a comfortable 6-3 6-3 6-0 win against Britain's Alex Bogdanovic today.

Federer, on a 17-match unbeaten run on grass after winning a warm-up event in Germany eight days ago, dropped just four points on his serve in taking the set 6-3 in 27 minutes.

The Swiss star then broke serve in the opening game of the second set to open up a 3-1 lead.

To his credit Bogdanovic refused to buckle and forced two break points in the fifth game, but hit a backhand return long and missed a simple forehand volley to let Federer off the hook.

That was the wake-up call the champion needed and he broke Bogdanovic again to take the second set 6-3 and take complete command of the match.

Federer was simply at least one class above the Briton, able to raise his game whenever necessary to get the job done with the minimum of fuss.

Three more breaks of serve saw him breeze through the third set 6-0 and complete his 40th win of the year in just 80 minutes.
